The Cathedral of Burgos

 What can one say about this magnificent edifice? It is simply one of the marvels of architecture and art.

Forget about the dome of Cologne! These churches are architectural masterpieces with no comparison. On the sight of the former castle of the King of Castilla y Leon the Cathedral was built between 11th and 14th century. People built cathedrals to attract pilgrims in those days - they sure get my attention.

This gothic meets Renaissance conglomeration of uncountable altars, fresks and grave stones I have never seen before in any of the cathedrals visited. The Cathedral of Burgos was the model according to which most of the Gothic//Renaissance churches were built after.

Master piece is the Coppola - in shape of a 8 thorn star - you truly feel heaven is closer.
