In Santo Domingo de la Calzada

I can see the village already from 6 km distance, but it disappears and appears again multiple times with the ups and downs of today's trip. The pilgrims enter the city through an industrial area which is not very inviting before we finally get into the old part of town.

My Hotel is right in the center, but seems to have no rooms available until 15.00. I limp up and down in front of the reception and get lucky with it: a room with three beds is ready.

In the room I take off my hiking boots and realize that my feet and toes acke in every possible way - no blisters yet, but simple pain. In my flipflops I limp through old town and visit first the cathedral - half church and half museum - with an impressive collection of relicts from former century.

Most impressive is a Renaissance Altar mounting in the side ship:

Odd but true: there is a rooster and a chicken living in this cathedral demonstrating respect for the animal world:

After a late lunch I limp back to my hotel: it's washing day:))
