From Torres Del Rio to Logrono (20 km)

it's Sunday and I wake up realy early - rise and shine I tell myself and go through the routine of packing my backpack: I did well since I am traveling only with 3 shorts, t-shirts, socks and a pair of flipflops besides my hiking shoes.

I miss my sunglasses though which I must have lost somewhere in the forest yesterday bending down constantly to avoid the low hanging branches of the tree - there is a price to pay for being tall.

I am 'flying' towards Logrono. It's one of the climaxes of my trip since it is the capital of the region of Rioja - my favorite vine. After an uneventful walk I arrive to my Hotel and drop of my backpack. It's 9.15 and I want to visit the Bodega of Marques de Murrieta - my favorite Spanish vine.  Arriving at the Bodega I have to realize though that it's closed: SUNDAY!

The taxi driver is still waiting and takes me back to the city of Logrono. I make it just on time for mass in the cathedral. Besides the 8 priest around the altar there are only 40 people in this gigantic church. Spain must be facing the same symptoms like Germany: people leave the church to save some percent of church taxes. At the same time the church has to become more contemporary or it will desolve itself. Our pope does a little bit already, but he is only one. The whole church needs to get closer to the people and to the places where people need help like it was originally meant for.

Pope Franziscus is a brave person and he tells things like he sees it : e.g. When he called Donald Trump a ' non Christian ' when Trump agressivly announced the building of a GIANT WALL. I have been a Conservative all my life, but am disgusted by Trump. He turned the presidential selection process ( which is antiquated and needs to be reformed) into a poor version of 'Jerry Springer'. Since when are anger and hate family values? How can a Conservative party support such an uneducated, undiplomatic greenhorn whose only quality seems to be that he is a bulldog which helped him in life to become rich? I am sure my American friends though will take care of it and not vote for such a person! 

Since my whole body is aching I will take it easy for the rest of the day and get a massage - will ask the therapist to focus on my legs:))
