From Castrojeriz to Carrion de Los Condes ( 45 km)

This morning I get started much earlier since I had a very peacefully and deep sleep in my little nest under the roof top. While I am getting organized for departure I balance around to avoid hitting my head against one of the wooden beams, which hang dangerously into my room. bagpack on and let's start: I close my room door and realize that there is absolutely no light; so I step carefully closer to what I think are the steps down - amazingly I hit each step with my giant boots and make it down the labyrinth of staircases in one piece.

As it is colder than usual (8 degrees) I get my gloves out and zip up my coat. Until Boadilla I make it in record time. It seems that I am walking faster to avoid getting cold.

A couple of hours into my hiking I see an older gentleman raising both hands up in the sky and shouting," yeeeeees, another day!!!".  He must have gone insane I assume, but when I turn back towards the direction he was looking at I saw the sun rising just at the tip of the horizon offering an incredible selection of light - truly amazing. Rabin from Israel explained walking next to me that he has cancer in the last stage and is so thankful for each new day he can live - the story truly touches me and makes me understand again how blessed and privileged healthy people are.

I decide to have breakfast to be prepared for the rest of the trip. The little restaurant I pick has no other client but me. The owner/servant behind the counter is eating a sandwich with one hand and tries to get countless bugs off her with the other hand. But these are farm bugs:
aggressive and I irritated about a hand waving in the air.

The breakfast she serves me was by far the poorest tasting food so far on my journey - and most expensive breakfast for €11.20. You can eat really good and inexpensive in the morning at so many places along the way - no star for this place.

I fly on past Fromista and towards Carrion de Los Condes - here one picture trying to prove you that I am really walking each day:))

Passing through the city I reach the church of Santa Maria and decide to step in. Quite Gregorian songs are played in the romantic church whose windows are up so high that they barely offer light. I sit down and for the first time - inspired by the monotone way today - I get quite with no thought on my mind; for the first time I feel the omnipotence presence of a higher being - God. I listen to the Gregorian songs for at least an hour before I get up and continue my trip to my hotel

My home this evening is the Monastary  of San Zoilo; the place has been renovated and is used as a boutique hotel. The former simple sleeping places of the monks are now comfortable place of quietness. I open the windows listening to the never ending concert of birds and start writing to you:)
