After arriving at the comfortable Jakue Hotel I took a midday nap and slept like a stone until 1 pm. Down in the restaurant a bus of French elderly tourists arrived and it got quite noisy and busy. I decide to have a big lunch as I want to try to have a small diner only since my sleep quality during the past days could have been better.
After lunch I start marching towards the main church of the town. It was different than the gold charged churches of the big cities. Somehow in these simple and humble places it's much easier for me to feel God's presence.
The altar gets prepared: I am lucky, a ceremony at 2 pm. But I am the only person in church. At 2 minutes to 2 the church door opened though and in come 200 Spanish pupils filling up the entire church. The 15 year olds were more interested in talking to each other though than listening into the mass. At the end of the mass the priest announced that he will give a necklace with a cross to one of the people who has listened the whole mass and did not disturb - me:))
So here it is: my first cross necklace. I am Catholic but never wear any signs. I am on my pilgrimage though and am thankful for this little token reminding me why I am on this way.
good things happen to good people :-)
